     Hello Everybody,

It's cold, rainy and windy outside and I have plenty of time to give much thanks to all of my fishing supporters and sponsors.

Thanksgiving week 2009 was filled with some outlandish fishing.  I was blessed with a couple from the Upper Coast who are return customers and are a great fishing team with both of them loving to kayak and fish together everytime they get a chance. Carol and Barney are there names and if you like you can visit their website at:

Barney and Carol were interested in doing a Port Brownsville trip, and also a flats trip during the week. The ship channel excursion was quite successful with many quality sized Mangrove Snappers and other species. We had caught enough fish for dinner and had some extra time so Carol wanted a tour of South Bay on the way back for future Kayaking trips. South Bay was somewhat quite yet, very beautiful. Bird watching was great due to the low tides and winter bird migration was in full swing. Barney said, they consumed all the Snappers with friends that very night. They were prepared by Blackbeards' Restaurant as a bring your own catch family style dinner. Blackened, grilled, with all the trimmings. All said and done at a very reasonable price. Yum Yum.

Our flats trip was even more successful with topwater baits being the highlights of the day. We were using the electronic croaker, top dog walking, rattle sounding Livingston Lures. If you haven't tried them they are awesome except for the lightweight treble hooks need to be changed out quickly due to breakage. We had a light north wind at first light just  South of Cullens with groups of Redfish, small redfish schools, and nice trout happy to slam a topwater. With the water being very calm we could see the big fish waking up behind the top waters and hammer down with each attack. In the distance I could see a group coming so I used my auto pilot remote control trolling motor to get in position. Then all of the sudden BOOM my lure disappeared then SLAM Carol was on quickly followed by CRUSH Barney was hammered down on. Triple hook up on top waters how sweeeet!!!!

Barney and Carol both left with heart felt huge smiles and promised to return for some more  top notch action in the spring.

  Till next time.
