This month will be "SLAM MONTH".

This challenge will consist of 1 redfish, 1 trout, and 1 flounder.

The fish do not have to be caught on the same day. You can catch a redfish on the 1st, a trout on the 15th, and a flounder on the 29th.

The total length of your largest redfish, trout, and flounder will determin the KOTH. For example a 24" redfish, 20" trout and 16" flounder will score 60.

You can post as many fish as you wish. If you post a 12" flounder on one day and catch a 17" flounder the next day then post it as an upgrade.

Undersized fish are acceptable so don't hesitate to post a small fish. You never know, the winner could be a 28" redfish, 30" trout, and a 10" flounder.

No redfish over 28".

Pictures -
You need to submit a picture of the fish on or next to a legible tape measure or bump board.

The picture needs to include an un-rigged (no hooks or jig heads) soft plastic (no specific color or type) placed next to the fish. No dates will be required as the soft plastic will be proof that the picture was taken during October and I figured that most people will have one laying around. Just make sure it is un-rigged.

All mouths need to be closed.

No pinched tails.

In the event that no slams are caught, I will use the length of the species that are caught to determin the KOTH. However, if a small slam is posted and someone has a trout and redfish that gives a better score than the slam, the slam will still win since he/she completed the task.

One last request, please take a picture of at least one of your fish with you holding it so that it can be placed on the home page, it will look better than a fish on a bump board.

This is my first go at this and I feel I have covered everything but if something is unclear or you have any questions please ask.

J.Dean is offering up an embroidered TFF cap to the winner.
I will throw in a couple of packages of soft plastics.

Lets get the word out.

Sounds good,,,I have a tricky question for Sequoia,,,will putting the corners of the redfish tails whichever is longer on the narrow bumper board qualify instead of centering the tail because the middle is shorter?

LOL, Leave it to you D.W. to get that technical! Wink

I have had this debate with numerous " fisherman" over the years (to pinch or not to pinch the tails?) Have heard numerous responses and their theories of the law) Once I found the appropriate opportunity to ask that question ( being checked by a Game Warden)  to Pinch or Not to Pinch Tails by the TP&W rules, Yes or No? The Game Warden's response was they do not pinch the tails if it is obvious that the fish is within the state's legal size limit, If the fish appears to them as being on the line of being just short they pinch, otherwise they do not.  Just a few months back again I had this same debate and contemplated going to TP&W's office and asking them to put it in writing the rules as they know it, Now I know I am going to do that.... Personally I do not pinch tails , If the fish isn't at least 1" over the limit it goes back and If it is near the oversize limit it still goes back.....

Nothing personal toward you D.W.  just it is a good question, and I really want it answered from the Source's Mouth per say! Smiley

Let's say for example, I did dispute RR when he was a judge and he gave me a slap on the wrist for it at the Showdown where my tails were about 6-7 inches wide and my bumper board is about three inches wide. The middle tails were about two inches shorter than the corners on two of my fish but got measured on the middle instead of the corners like others who had 6 inch wide bumper boards which knocked off about 4 inches off my leaderboard. So it is just a thought to be concerned about.

Don't know who RR is,? Don't know about the showdown? Sounds too competitive to me...But truly I want to know the laws as a State Game Warden is instructed to follow!

I guess I will have to test some pictures with my phone. Specs say it is only 2.1 MP. I dont have a real camera yet. As soon as the economy starts to get better I am gonna get a good one. Slam month sounds like a lot of fun. I will tell my wife because she likes that kinda stuff.

This is valid question. The issue that I see with pinching the tails is this. Someone could post a 27" redfish with the tail pinched making it 28". Then another person could post a 28" redfish without the tail pinched. The argument could be made that the 28" fish would be "OVERSIZED" if the tail was pinched. Therefor it would be disqualified.

I would like the "No Pinched" tail rule to stand for this challenge.

Darth, to answer your question, if you are using a bump board and you position the nose of the fish towards the top or bottom of the "BUMP" so that the full length of the tail is shown on the "BOARD" then that is OK as long as the tail has not been pinched and the nose is in full contact with the bump and the mouth is closed. This should not create an advantage or disadvantage for anyone.

I will review the Pinched tail question with the Mods for future challenges.
