This was heavyduty's idea, and I liked it... It's a monthly competition for members to claim "King of the HILL" for a month. Whoever catches the largest fish of the big three will stand proud on the top of the mountain the following month for everyone to see and envy.

No money involved, I will see about getting some tackle as prizes for winners, but your name will be spotlighted on the front page of this site as the best Texas angler for the month you won with a photo of your catch.

We'll post some rules and guidelines in the next day or two, stay tuned..

Ok here is the preliminary info. Jeff and I will discuss firm rules this weekend but this is what I have in mind. Each month there will be a particular species of fish to rotate between Trout, Redfish and flounder. Since February is typically big trout month we will start with trout. The contest will run all month and all fish must be caught in the month of the contest. You will have 2 days to post pics of the fish after it is caught. Be sure the date on your camera is set. You will need to photo the fish on a measuring board and with the tail squeezed in accordance with the TP&W rule book. Also a close up shot of the weight on a Boga Grip or some reliable scale.

You will post your photos on the KOTH for the month in which the contest is current. So if you catch a nice trout this month be sure to put it under the Feb KOTH. This contest is to put together some interesting threads that will run all month long and promote some friendly competition among the board. The fish must be caught by legal means in accordance with the TP&W rules and yes you can hire a guide or fish on your own.

We will probably mix up the redfish months by having a spot contest one month and maybe have slot red only with the heaviest slot red, then maybe a bull red contest in the fall when they are more likely to be caught. The flounder will be in the fall also maybe Oct or Nov.

That is all I have for now and will think of other things. Oh yeah the fish must be caught in Texas waters.

Please include the attached file in your photo, print it and put it in a ziploc bag and carry it with you.

To make it easier and considering the month will be on the print out, no date and time stamp will be required in the photos.
