This by no means is a progress report from this county Judge. It is what it is, the county is about to throw the CB/VS project under the bus. A few weeks ago I spoke to Mills about the CIAP funding, the county's TIER 1 and TIER 2 projects. The TIER 1 projects are the projects that the county wants to fund and the TIER 2 are the projects that may be put on the back burner, which the county has CB/VS as a TIER 2 project. The TIER 1 projects that the county has do not have a plan, a design or feasibilty study, nothing and may not see a permit. The CB/VS as we all know has gone though all the necessary steps and has a permit, shovel ready. We have applied for the CIAP funding which will pay for the final step to stage this project for construction. Our objectives are to complete the final design which will design a project that will restore the historical connection between the Gulf of Mexico and the Coastal Bend bays by dredging CB/VS, tidal channels that once connected the Gulf water to 20,000 plus acres of wetlands and the seven bay system. The cost $369.882 funded by CIAP funds. But Mills says no because he want to wait until we have the $6.4 and claims that the findings in the surveys are time sensitive and over time can become outdated. My question would be, how long was he going to wait, 3 or 5 years down the road. By that time the cost would not be $6.4. When I first started this project, the cost to dredge CB/VS was $862,000, which was back in 2006-2007. Please read the article in the Rockport Pilot. I would like to get your thoughts on this.

My only thought is something smells fishy. It seemed that the Judge was an ally. Now a turncoat? Sounds like someone put the heat on him. First of all, how could the project be classified as tier 2? Didn't he put serious time and effort into obtaining the permit? When something like this makes no sense, my suspicion is there must be some hidden agenda. Sort of like Obama nixing the Canadian Pipeline Project.

Okay, I have several calls and e-mails wanting to know what next. I have had several suggestions and one was that they would like to have a public meeting to get better informed. I will be setting up a time and date to hold this meeting. I will be posting the time and date when we have one that is firm. If any one has any other ideals please let me know.  Old Plugger, not one offical has taken this project seriously and that is clear when they placed a project that will fall on its face, no plan, design, or permitted. It is time to shake the tree's. My break time is over and it is time to get back to work. Hope to see you at the meeting.
