New to the LLM bay area. Any areas that are being fished during winter that I could try this weekend and bait of choice. Thanks

You are leaving out a lot of information. Are you wading in to fish? Kayaking? Using a boat? Do you use lures on a regular basis? Plan on using live or dead bait?

I can give you a generic answer; but please define the type of fishing and species you plan to target.

OK.. personally I went out 2 weeks ago.. slayed 5 reds between 24-27 inches in 2 hours.  East flats between marker 183 and the Saucer.  Using TTF Killer flats minnow #KFM 237 "bug juice" and #KFM 268 "geaux geaux"  slow retrieve as the reds  bite was very slow.  Throw about 10 yards in front of them and bring within 2 feet..then...BAM!!!!  I will be out this weekend also.

Forgot to mention. On 17'dargel skout. Would like to stay close to causeway area taking little ones along. Don't know water that well. Live bait, dead or lures , what ever will work. Any help would be great. Thanks

Mexiquita Flats should be decent and any flats just north of the causeway should also produce some fish. Shrimp under a popping cork should produce some trout and reds. I personally throw lures about 95-99% of the time, my favorite is the gulp on a jighead and worked as a jerk bait.

Tight Lines and Screaming Drags,

I like New Penny but just about any color should work.

Just my two cents..I use the white or nuclear chicken shrimp gulps...get good hits on reds and trout.  Might want to try some TTF trout killers in liquid shrimp or "bug juice" purple/metal flake with chartreuse paddle tail.
