Happy New Year TFF Family!  i know its a little late, but as they say....better late than never.  Smiley

Let me start by saying last year was a great year all around.   It was a little weird for me, but great none the less. Our normal patterns we seem to see were a little off, winds seemed to blow like hurricanes at our back door from march through June, redfish numbers were less than other years, sea grass that was killed during the previous years fresh water flooding  has not recovered causing the bay to look like chocolate when ever a high winds prevailed........ so on and so forth. But who can really complain.  Fishing was still good and business picked up quite a bit after a couple of sluggish years due to the economy.  Nothing but good things in the horizon.

My first charter of the year took place yesterday.  Some flyfishing guys from Oklahoma visited the arroyo in hopes of seducing a few reds to feast on a tiny morsal of a fly thats acutally a metal hook with hair from a once live animal or so glittery immitation stuff tied to that hook.

as you recall, winds yesterday were failrly high and got worse and the morning progressed. the guys chose to throw some plastics until the sun rose enough to be able to sight cast with the flyrod.   A couple of 24" reds were landed, however, i knew the guys hearts were set on catching on that noodle stick. Once the sun was high enough, we poled or should i say we blew over about two miles of area.  we saw several fish, unfortunately the wind was too severe to be able to properly get a fly infront of the fish with casts coming from two guys new to fishing with high winds at their back.   they gave ait go for a couple of hours until the wind defeated them and finally gave up.

At this point i turned from fishing guide to tour guide as i proceeded to give them a tour of our bay.  Later in the day, we fished for a little longer.  the guys were able to hook up to few more fish including this nice 26" lady.  The wind started to taper off around 3:00, but by this time the sun was not on our favor.  we called it a day soon after.  We were supposed to be back out today.  After discussing it with them, they choose to stay in doors due to the cold front .  we wil be trying it again tomorrow with high hopes .

by the way, no i did not cut off the clients head by accident.  he didn't want to be be in the photo.  something about it may incriminate him or something lke that. LOL   the choice lure that caught all the fish today was the TTF Hackberry Hustler- Morning Glory.
