The Family of Jaime Jorge Zapata would like to host a fishing tournament to honor Jaime and benefit his foundation.  The Jaime Jorge Zapata Foundation was created to continue Jaime’s dream of giving back.  The Jaime Jorge Zapata Foundation is devoted to develop and distribute resources through scholarships and other support for the furtherance of law enforcement and public servant careers among under-privileged youth.

In addition, the Foundation intends to expand and create a retreat in order to assist law enforcement and public servant families during times of crisis.

The Jaime Jorge Foundation is a nonprofit, 501 (c) (3) entity; donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

have talked to some of you about planning the fishing tournament in Jaime’s honor.  With the holidays coming up I thought we could communicate via e-mail.

Attached are some sample tournament flyers, Jaime’s photos and a copy of a golf tournament sponsor letter just to get some ideas going.  For those who are good with computers please feel free to put together a flyer or sponsor letter if you like.  When we get together we can look over samples and fine tune a letter or pick a final draft.

I know some of you have experience putting together tournaments and some have contacts with possible locations on where to have the tournament.  Please feel free and gather some information on possible locations and gather ideas on how to cover the tournament.

I wanted to discuss how to incorporate a surf/bay tournament, possibly on a holiday weekend, I believe if we can include a surf/bay tournament type event on an extended weekend it will lead to more participants.  I would like to think that the tournament could be observed as a Law Enforcement/Public servant personnel tournament with state, local and federal workers, officers, agents and friends coming together and getting away from the day to day routine and all for a good cause.

We could have activities and games for children and family members who choose to stay behind at either a weigh in area or hosting location, possibly a marina, restaurant or hotel.  In the future we could incorporate peer support personnel or medical screening personnel.  Again, these are just ideas.

Those who knew Jaime knew that he loved to fish, have a good time and get together with his family and friends.

Please join me in an effort to plan a fishing tournament in Jaime’s honor.

As always thank you for your support.

Sincerely, the Zapata Family.

Sounds like a good deal, I'm pretty sure I can attend provided that the dates are announce way ahead of time.  Gives me time to take the day off.
