Waiting for my boat to come in (Dargel). Trying to decide what I should get first a trolling motor wireless or a power pole possible talon. Not sure what would be good to put on first, wish I could do both but not possible due to funds on a new boat. I guess that's why I'm posting this topic to help me out. Thanks for your help!!!

Personally, I would go with the Trolling motor..you will need that a lot more than the pole right now..anytime you do not need to start your prime mover(outboard engine) the better!! The noise from those big honkers travels a long way underwater.

Do you think a 70lb is good for 186 dargel?

i have a 190 Skout (for sale).  It has a 60 lb remote trolling motor.  Get that first.  Trying to pole a Dargel is darn near impossible.  There is no keel so you will zig-zag across the bay.

It should be..make sure it is salt water type.. on the power pole..get a white or whatever color 10. It will have a 5 year warranty on parts and a 2 year warranty on hydraulics and connectors.  It will come in handy!!  And you will not swing back in forth as I carry and anchor to sustain position .

If your looking to drift all the time i would go with a trolling motor but if you like to wade their is nothing like having a power pole with remote for wading IMO

Wade or drift, I think a powerpole is the better choice. When you get on a good bite you can stop the boat and not drift thru the fish. I had a Trolling motor on my boat and only used it a few times when the winds were light. Not worth the money and took it off. IMO the pp is the better investment.

Just like so many other topics that we chat about, it all depends on your fishing style and where you are at the most.  I can think of so many spots that I generally hit that the wind cannot be dependent on and you need a trolling motor to hit the spots or your SOL.... However when it works to my advantage and im in the zone thinking about dropping an anchor and say: hell I wish I had a power pole.....

Just win the lottery and buy both...

My opinion is the PP is the best investment. That being said I am ordering a new Trolling motor this week. I have a PP but where I fish sometimes we fish canals and such so a trolling motor is useful. But I would spend the money on a PP. If you are bait fishing you can put an anchor out on the front and the pp down on the back to  hold you steady, you can actually walk the boat while drifting with it by putting it down to swing the boat the way you want it to go while drifting. Just my opinion
