It's hard to tell from the picture, but what is that big round thing it's sitting in ?

You're not trying to place the metal, bell shaped enclosure containing the transformer underwater are you ?

Only the bulb and a pair of wires leading to it go underwater. Everything else is mounted on shore, where the sensor can see daylight.  The screw - in metal base for the bulb is not used, it is discarded and the wires that went to it originally are soldered direct to the base of the bulb.

What you are explaining is how i built it.........  The round object is a roll of aluminum duct seal tape that acted as a barrier to keep the bulb from falling over while I moved around the work bench.....lol..... I also at one time had buble wrap and towels around it after three days of setting up...
Above in the pictures you can see my fiberglass box with transformer and photo cell mounted.  I used shallow aluminum strut and stainless all thread to clamp box to post.

That's what I figured but it wasn't clear in the pic.
It should work fine for you.
That 3M 5200 is nasty stuff. Hard to clean from your hands or anything else.
I always use acetone to clean up while it is still uncured.
Once it has cured it is nearly impossible to remove except with a product 3M makes just for that purpose.
Good Luck with it. I hope you catch a lot of fish around that light.
