what's the consensus about eating fish caught in the bay during red tide?  these fish were not caught anywhere near the presence of the algae, but i did see some floaters in the vicinity.

Enjoy, If you catch a good fighting fish around red tide eat it. The tide move just like the  fish, but with wind and tides. It won't hurt you.

I just read an article about it from a TPW biologist and they stated that any toxins that get in a fish stay in the organs and do not get into the meat or muscle. Also shrimp and crabs are not affected.

I was told toxins where in the fat also.Which is in the meat.Up here in Galveston we aint suppose to eat more than 8 oz of trout a month because of toxins.I eat way more than that in 1 sitting.I'm still here.Of course I had to have someone else type this because of some weird twitch I have.

Personally I enjoy the red tide twitch... but eating reds out of the back bay downwind of the refinery's makes for a psychedelic dinner.
