In Arkansas but moving to the LLM soon-ish!

« on: Dec 14, 11 - 08:25:52 AM »

Friends,

Mrs. FT and I are driving down to PM this coming Friday the 16th and will be there over Christmas and headed back to Arkansas on the 30th.  It will be just the two of us over Christmas in a rented house on the bay at PM.  We bought building lots and will be looking into building, bought a flats boat in September so will pick that up and take it out a few times on trial runs and a little fishing etc.

We will be going into Harlingen to church for Christmas and we have decided our Christmas meal will be TAMALES.  Now then, anyone know of a place that will be open on Christmas day for tamales?  Will probably be in Harlingen/San Benito a time or two before Christmas so maybe a place with good fresh tamales where we can buy some to take back to PM for Christmas?

I know y'all have your favorite spots for tamales so give 'em up Grin

BTW, the house we have rented for twelve nights is on the bay just north of the harbor and has a 500' private, lighted fishing pier so it's an open invite to come on out and wet a line and maybe go out with us on the boat to give some helpful hints on runniing it and, of course, a fishing lesson.

We might be "Internet challenged" while in PM so give a shout or text to: 870-three 7 three-eight 55 eight.

Thanks and hope to see some of you while we are down.

FT and Mrs. FT

I've heard of Delia's and, yes, a bit out of the way but then, maybe not for good tamales.  I've sent them a message to see if one of their several locations will be open on Christmas but really, wish them to be closed so they can all enjoy Christmas with their families.

Plan B would be to stop by one of the locations a day or two before Christmas and pick up a few dozen.  The question remains, can we wait until Christmas to eat them? Evil Grin

Anymore suggestions would be appreciate and thanks guys!

Thanks, I saw that on their website but figured it was just for tamales being shipped out.  If they don't answer my inquiry today, I'll give them a call tomorrow to work it out.

Anyone taking bets that if we pick up tamales BEFORE Christmas, there will be any left BY Christmas? Evil LOL

Anyway, it's gonna be a fun trip and, if we can afford it, will enter into a construction contract and be full time residents after school is out next May...YEEHAWWWWW Grin

Merry Christmas to all the TFF gang and hope to see some of you in a few days.

Just ordered 3 doz. from the Pharr location; they are open until 8pm on Christmas Eve then open back up on the 26th.  Pharr is quite a distance from PM but we will coordinate it with some sort of trip into town.

I haven't had a good tamale for 15 years since I retired and left Texas; knew I shoulda stayed there.

Get those tamales ordered guys!!

Delia's has the best tamales I have ever had. In all my travels I have gotten to try all sorts of food and Delia's is the best I have ever had. I like the Jalapeno cream cheese tamales.

That part I don't get but I don't know Jeff Dean.  I did, however, stay at a Holiday Inn Express one night. Tongue

Hey FT, i have an office 2 blocks south of Delia's in Pharr.  I will be in Harlingen on thursday (22nd) at the bass pro shop for a night of bowling and supper with my staff.  I would be happy to pick them up for you and take them with me to harlingen.  We can meet up there early that evening to deliver them.  shoot me a pm if that works for you.
