I agree that some things are overpriced, and not alot of saltwater items but i also look at it this way i had been wanting to buy a pair of ray gaurds and for the past 4 months and academy has not had them. Then i went to jhonnys knowing they have them and they wanted $50-$60. I went to bass pro and found them there for $35 if i can recall same price as academy, and also bought a really nice wading net for $19.99 when academy wants the same or more for a less quality one. Not to mention they have way more of fishing clothing variaty than anyone else in the area. Alot of people complain about it but if we didnt have it they would also be complaining ill continue to go to all three academy bps and johnnys, just be smart about what your purchasing.

there is a huge mexican bass fishing market, that I anticipate will buy the heck out of all that freshwater jazz.

X2, Lot's of folks don't realize that this was built to target Mexico's bass fisherman. It was originally going to be built in Corpus on the Bayfront but when the auditorium CC was offering was going to cost too much to change to get the BPS look they decided to come down here.

Its true that our neighbors from Mexico are coming to the BPS to shop but can it really generate that many sales?  Right know it very busy because of all the buzz about this new BPS and the holidays coming up but what after the buzz dies out.  The rods and reel are not cheap and their selection on saltwater is limited so that kind of killed the buzz for me.
