For you Valley fishing nuts.  Has anyone stopped to eat at Mels diner near Rio Hondo?  It's a little place on the south side of the road between the the two roads that take you to Arroyo City.    If you have not, YOU NEED TO!!  I can tell you this much, Chilly Willies is out the door in my book now.  this little place has burgers just as good if not better with a lot more options and the fries are INCLUDED in the price!!!  I had a cheese burger with swiss cheese, mushrooms, jalapenos, and fresh slices of avocado w/ seasoned fries,  my nephew and his wife also had cheese burgers with fries, and my brother in law had a huge plate of chopped steak with mushroom gravy and fries for a total price of $34.00 including drinks!!!  That bill would have easily been $50 at Chilly willies.

I don't know how i've missed this place for the 5 years theyve been open.

For you big eaters, they have a 12 or 13 patty w/ brisket challenge.  Give it a shot.  Smiley

Good to know, I've seen it the few times I've been to AC.  Chili's is listed for sale!  $675K as I recall.

Cold Beer???

yes and more.  Two big 42" flat screens to show all games and a pool table. Very clean and you don't have to deal with the smell of smoke from cigarettes.

The menu has a very good variety.  burgers are handmade and excellent, fries are crispy and seasoned, onion rins are really good, and their chips & salsa appetizer is fantistic (they even fry up the chips when you order them so they come out hot!!)   next item for me to try is their Big fajita taco filled with fajita, rice, beans, and avocado.   Smiley

im telling you guys....you have to stop by.

and before anyone wonders why im talking so high about this place, let me put a question to rest:   NO, I have absolutely no vested interest in this place nor is the owner related to me in any way.  In fact, i just met the owner (a young guy who's very nice) on Tuesday when i ate there again.  simply put, its just a great little sports bar/resturant.   Boat parking is not all that hot, but i can deal with that when someone serves good food.

Good sports bar food always gets my interest; will check it out on the December trip.  Fishing folks passing the word around will make it work Grin

We were debating whether to go there or not but after a long day you have to have a cold beer. Now that I know I will definitely stop by.  Thanks

Funny thing is that its been open for 5 years now and I've never heard anyone mention it.  I don't think the fishing crowds has heard about them.
