I didn't book any charters for this day because i was not sure if I would be back in town in time.  My nephew and his wife ended up being the lucky ones this October Saturday. Several weeks back he asked me if I woult take him and his wife for her birthday.  i have him my standard answer of "If i'm not booked. Why not."   of course this was before i realized i was going to be out of town and decided to turn down a couple of requests for that day.  Much to his delight, I returned from my trip sooner than expected.

After a quick launch at the park my first stop was behind bird island.  Big mistake on a Saturday.  Not only was I quickly surrounded by 15 boats, a couple of what i hope were newbies motored full throttle 50 yards to the left of me and to the right of me and of course went right over the water i was hoping to fish.   Way too much traffic for my liking.   after about 10 minutes, I left dodge with no regrets....and no fish.

Stop #2.  a saw a few wakes as i was headed to my next destination.  Chose to stop to give it a whirl.  Nope.  Nothing happening.

Stop #3.  Drove around looking for some activity and finally played a hunch. I stop at venue #3 with high hopes. Three hours later i was done with my first drift.  The action was not hot and heavy, however, it was consistent enough to keep me going. Mixed in with the keeper troutn and red were several dinky trount and reds making the drift somewhat enjoyable.

We were back at the dock around noon to clean  our catch of 6 reds adn 7 trout.  Like i said, the action was not hot and heavy, but at least we managed to land a few.  Once again, if you read my report from the previous week, I will take this kind of day anytime!!!!  LOL

October fishing can be great.  Get out there and get your line wet otherwise you will never know.  Smiley

Choice lures today was the Morning Glory hackberry Hustler on a 3/8 oz JigHead with the Eyes from TTF.  Grin
