I was at Johnny's True Value in Harlingen the other day and someone pointed out a "new" line..I believe it is called Fireline or something like that? I know it was a black line..Any one know what I am talking about or have used it? I think it was like 17.99..I have never used anything besides a Mono.. If I do go with a braid, Do I use about 10 feet of Mono on the reel first for backing..then Uni to Uni knot with the braid for the rest of the spool? Also would it be best to use a couple of feel of flourocarbon for the ease of tying knots? Alot of info but help would be great! Thanks!

Have had the same Suffix Performace Braid spooled on for at least 2 years and still going strong. Tried power pro when it first came out and didn't like the flaking that came off the line plus all the wind knots.
Going to try the 832 or Suffix stretch braid next.

I fished with FINS once and also liked it but need more than one trip.
Johnny's has alot of nice stuff but honestly their prices on fishing line has a heck of a mark up on price.

Buy Power Pro off the Internet; I use 15# (diameter of 4# mono) for tossing crank baits at fresh water brown trout.  1500 yd. spool for about $100.  I use it on  both bait casting and spinning reels and it's the best I've ever used.  I'd have to do some surfing to find out where I bought it but Y'all can do the same.  Just got back from my trip to the LLM and the rods and reels provided by my hosts were spooled with PP, worked like a charm in salt water too Grin

I have only used Power Pro and may be biased, but I have it on six of my combos and have never had any issues.  Its been good to me, although I never catch any fish, especially when I fish with Jasonthecableguy...lol Grin

Had PP for the past 4 years, love it, but I am migrating all my reels to FINS braid. Tried suffix braid & the newer 832 for a few months, didn't like them at all , never work as well as PP & FINS. JMHO

I am currently loyal to PP. I have tried Spider Wire and did not like it at all.

About 12 or 13 years ago I found some Gorilla Braid #40 and loved it but can not find it anymore. I found a 300 yard spool of it and it was on sale for something like $10 and I grabbed it up and used it for about 5 years before I had to get rid of it because it was starting to fray and break when fighting a fish.
