Been having problems with my 90 hps Johnson 4 stroke lately, really a Suzuki, seems like the gas is either bad or my fuel pump.  Starts fine, drives fine it's when after I do my first drift and take off it turns off.  I notice that my bulge is flat, after I pump it, it takes off fine and doesn't do it again.  This past Monday what I would do is pump it before I would take off and did just fine.  Could this be bad gas due to the heat or do you think my fuel pump is starting to go bad?
This has been going on for a couple of Months now, the mechanic said it was probably the gas.
Any advise

I am having the same problem with my 140 Suzuki.  Runs great, but when I finish a drift and get up to go, it will stall out.  I pump the bulb and then have no problems.  Weird.  I am anxious to hear what folks think.

a simple solution you can look at might be to remove your anti siphon ball from your gas line. this may or may not be the problem, but i know it took care of my problem on my F90 yamaha.   just a thought.

Hey Roel, where is the anti-siphon ball?
usually right at the point where your gas line meets your tank.  It's a little valve that is screwed to the tank and the has hose is attached to it.   you can either replace the valve with a new one without the spring and ball in it or just punch the ball out towards the treads.  it's a little difficult but manageable.

I was told that gas that is made with ethanol produces water or air pockets, something like that not really sure, when it's really hot, there by causing your motor to stall.  The problem is I use my boat regularly and top off before every use, I also add additive to the gas to help keep it fresh and is garage kept.  Looks like I am not the only one with this problem sure would like to know if there are more solutions.  I'm thinking of replacing the whole fuel system, fuel pump, lines, filters etc.etc. Would hate to be stuck out there in the bay.

If the bulb is collapsing then you have a restriction in the line from tank to bulb, or something floating in the tank getting into the pickup tube.

The above is right, the condition of your fuel is not going to make your bulb go flat.

Speaking of fuel with ethanol; I'm moving down to the LLM soon and wondering if there are any stations around Raymondville/Harlingen that sell fuel w/out ethanol.  Up here in northern Arknasas we have a few that do and one is right in my little town.  Usually 5-10 cents more per gallon but a small price to pay after you see what ethanol does to fuel lines, bulbs, inside of tanks, carb gaskets etc.

Thanks for all the suggestions.  I think I will replace my bulb and my line and check my tank out and see if this does it.  Love this forum. Also, I too would like to know if there is a place that sell gas without ethanol!

Just did a Google and came up with a motorcycle forum that had a link to a database giving locations where non-ethanol gas is sold and Lordy, Lordy.........

Raymondville    UNBRANDED    87    Willacy County Co-Op Farm Store    North Business Us 77

Right up my alley as we expect to buy a place in PM Grin

Here's the link to the site, just go down to the bottom and in tiny little font is the states abbreviations so click on TX.  A marina in Rockport and a couple places in CC are the only other ones I see that's coastal but that was a quick look so Y'all might do better.  http://pure-gas.org/index.jsp?stateprov=TX

Hey guys I've been having this problem on my 140 Suzuki for a while now. I purchased my boat new at the dargel store in Donna, ive taken it back to the service dept. a few times and they tried to correct the problem by contacting Suzuki directly, Suzuki originally told the guys at dargel to replace the anti syphon valve and they did to no avail, my boat kept on stalling! Recently Cleve Ford called me and told me that suzuki had a fix for it but could only be performed by the Suzuki service rep. My boat sits at the shop right now and I truely hope it'll get fixed this time. Thankfully Cleve and the guys at dargel have been very helpful and attentive to the fact that I have been having a problem with my boat and have done everything in their power to fix this frustrating issue. Will post as soon as it is fixed.

I had this problem with my 90 evinrude, was acting like it was running out of fuel. I took the skout back to dargel and they said a vacuum line was plugged up and some little part had gone bad. still ended up costing me a few hundred bucks.

Now I am no mechanic, but would this be the fuel pump that is in the fuel tank or the one in the motor?  I was thinking the same thing, but again I am no mechanic!  Just would like to have an idea before I take my to the shop to get it taken care of!!!  I kinda like to pretend like I know what I'm talking about!
