Anyone own one of these. I would like to know how they handle salt water.  Any quality issues.

Great reels. Must do a complete breakdown and cleaning after every trip in saltwater.

X2 on the cleaning.   They seem to need cleaning more than other similar reels.  It also seems to outcast other similar reels.

Got my Diawa advantage yesterday.  Looks solid and smooth.  Going to try it out tomorrow at PM community bar.  Let see how it works.

Well did not make all the way the community bar.  I did catch some fish except lost two good sized trouts.  Reel works okay just not what I thought it would be.  The retrieve is not very smooth and a lot of backlash and a couple of birds nest.  My Curados and Abu Garcia Record are smoother casting and retrieving than the Diawa Advantage.  Going to give it another try this weekend.

When adjusted properly it will out perform that Carado. If you are backlashing then it is not adjusted right.

It must take more adjustment than the Shimano.  My Shimano cast beautifully right out of the box.  No problem with the Shimano.  The Abu Garcia Record just needs a little adjustment on the spool knob and it good to go.

I have never had a reel that didn't need adjusting.  Especially shimano.  Once that diawa is dialed in you will be very happy.

Well the jury is in and I have to say the second time around the reel worked great.  Your right Red Raider, it needed some slight adjustment to make it work better.  Still I feel the Shimano has a smoother retrieve.
