Lynn, I would like to chime in with my thank you for all the work you put into this project.  I can't wait to see (and feel) the water moving through the bayou once again.  It's been way too long.

I was looking for a set of the project plans that include the drawings of what the bayou is projected to look like -post project.  Can you (or someone else) tell me where I could find those?  The project description I saw on line talked about a "Sheet 2" but I couldn't find those attachments.

Thanks again.

I have been asked several times if someone wanted to make a donation who would they send it to. Today,Aransas County Commissioners Court approved accepting Tax Deductible Donations for the Cedar Bayou Project. You can send your donations to County of Aransas, Office of the County Judge, 301 North Live Oak, Rockport Texas 78382. Also today, the Judge announced that the permit will be sent out by Monday and the Judge will have it in his hands most likely by Tuesday. Now we can get to work. We should be able to get started by September or October on the next step, which Hugo and Carlos will be doing. We have completed Phase 1- Technical Feasibilty: Hydraulic and alternatives Analysis, Phase 2. Optimization of preferred Alternative, Permitting, and now start on the Final Design. Now that we are done with the permitting we can move on to working on the final design. Phase 3. Construction and Post-Construction. Getting the dredging done and completing Phase 3. After all of this we still have the monitoring plan which was developed to evaluate and provide a mechanism to better understand the proformance of the Cedar Bayou/Vinson Slough Hydraulic Restoration project. The goal of the monitoring plan is to evaluate the changes to Cedar Bayou and Vinson Slough over a 5 year period. A success Criteria for Cedar Bayou and Vinson Slough was developed. This includes 1. Maintain Cedar Bayou and Vinson Slough both as an open inlet. 2. Minimize maintenance requirements for Cedar Bayou and Vinson Slough. 3. Increase flow between Mesquite bay, wetlands and the Gulf of Mexico though Cedar Bayou and Vinson Slough. 4. Cause no adverse effects to adjacent beaches or properties. This project is long over due and you now know that we are looking at 5 to 6 more years on working to make sure that this never happens again. It will take money to do it, and we are working on that, but if you can help during these very hard times, please do. You will see the permit first, in hand, right here, on TFF as soon as it gets here. Thank you again for all of your support for this very worthy project. AND IT LOOKS LIKE RAIN!!!!!

One more thing for you. Several months ago Hugo called about the BP Gulf Spill Restoration grant. We have submitted an application for funding for the Cedar Bayou/Vinson Slough project. Hugo put together the package and sent it in for the County. Hugo knew about this some time ago and a lot of folks wanted to know if we did apply for this funding, Yes We Did, a couple of months ago. We are getting up dates on this funding quite often. Hugo is on top of all fundings out there and if this projects fits he will apply. I have got to give it to this young man, he has stayed on top of this project from day one.

Okay, we are just about there. Judge Mills said today that he spoke to COE and they will drop the permit, 2 copies, in the mail. Judge Mills will sign them and send them back  Roll Eyes to COE and they will sign them and send one back to the Judge. I am so sorry, but I am setting here laughing my rear off. Send the permit, sign them, send them back, they sign and they send them back. What the hey!! I feel like throwing the Judge in a car, hauling him up there and get this over and done with. But, after years of fighting to get this permit, what is a couple more days?? Its to bad for this whole system that this has happen in the first place. But we have all played a huge part in making this right and all of you should be proud of your selves. I know that I am extremely proud of all of you for all of the support you have given this project. This project has broken records, some good and some not so good. You have shown the world that you can make a difference when you believe in something and speak out for it. Thank you each and every one of you, God Bless.

Thanks kben, and WTB back at all of you that really made this possible. There was an article in the Rockport Pilot weekender and everyone should look at it. You will see that now that the permit is in, CCA officials, have come on board, offering to help with fundraising. To be fair, last month Jim Smarr RFA, spoke with the Judge about doing the very same thing, offering to assist in fundraising. I guess this was an oversight on Norma's part. This is a good thing, to have everyone pitching in and working for a common goal. We can all put our differences aside, work together and get these passes open, we can do that by all of us getting out there and pulling together. http://rockportpilot.com/articles/2011/08/05.

On another note, I am going to write a book on this may lay. I need a title!!!! Please send me your suggestions. I will pick one and let you know which one it is. I have been writting this book for a while but never put a title to it. Help me out here.

Cheesy Doublek, I didn't think that I would see that permit in my lifetime. I was standing, when I shouldn't have been standing. Looking back, to tell you the truth, I don't know how I have done what I did. I guess I can say the  Evil made me do it. Either way I can rest a little easier now and stay focused on getting the money to finish the darn job. Then and only then can I just plain relax and do what I have wanted to do for years, build new memories in the best place in the world. Just to set and look at, what once was, will make my life complete. Hope to see all of you there on that great day.
