Hey guys,

I was headed to the CUT this weekend to camp and yak fish a bit but with this wind i know it would be a mess.  Until the wind lays down would the arroyo be an alright option?  I have not been out there since i was a kid.  Do you just drop at the ramp and work your way down?  can you actually paddle back with the flow?  Im just looking for different options at the moment.  Any advice would be appreciated.

Justin

Thanks for the offer.  Ive been reading some of your advice and others in the TKF forums.  I have a few mods that I want to get done tomorrow so i will probably run out there sometime in the middle of the week.  this way i dont have to fight the 2 hour traffic to get back home to the island.  I assume this is the route and the inlet i would take to get into the back of rattle snake.  It runs about 3.75 miles according to google earth to get from the ramp just to that point.  if you see me running around ill have a red t160.  its hard to miss the reflective tape.

No thats parker bay, so keep going east a little more till you hit the intercoastal then head south till you see the first inlet to your west, that would be rattlesnake.

ahh ok.  Some of the guys on TKF were saying one of the inlets would lead you into it.  I wasn’t sure if that was it continuing into the back. I’ve ran rattlesnake a few times but Im usually with my buddy in the scooter.  Thanks

I'll be staying down on the Arroyo Colorado, pretty close to where it looks like Justin stayed, the beginning of Sept dove hunting and doing some fishing. I was wondering if there is a way to get a vehicle close enough to launch a kayak that would give me access to Horse Island or Rattlesnake Island?

The closest you can get to the mouth of the river is to launch at the Park's boat ramp. It'll be a good paddle to get there.
