Rubsam, skinnycat, LLM-HLO and I fished the annual Hooters CCA fundraiser on South Padre Island this past weekend.  We had a blast!  We finished second overall.

Here are the pictures:

LLM-HLO with his award for third place flounder 2.8 lbs.  The tournament rules required that all fish be caught on a rod and reel, so HLO tied a small bayonet looking spear head to the top of his G-Loomis rod so he could gig that big girl.

Skinnycat with his trophy for second place trout (all trout had to be under 25 inches).  His trout was 24.6 inches long and weighed 4.95 lbs.  He caught it using a red zapper dipped in gulp juice.

Rubsam with his trophy for third place redfish.  His red weighed 7.4 lbs and was 27.75 inches long.  Apparently he was wading in ankle deep water when that horse of a fish came cruising by.  He bashed it over the head with his reel and stunned it long enough to get it on the stringer.

Rub and HLO I just wonder if we did enough to even be considered for a possible showing on the "A-Team" one day.

You know it's was a good showing when you take home a trophy in each of the categories (even though Trey's was for participation).

Good work guys. Let's do it again next tourney.

This was a great tournament, I think next year there should be another Game Warden or Surveyor. But over all lots of fun great work team.

Sounds like a great Day...

The biologist that was there did a great job! She was taking a real close look at all the fish. It was great that they decided to cut open most if not all fish. She checked the eyes for color as well as the gills. I even saw her smell the gills. Having a game warden wouldnt have helped. They can only enforce laws on the fish that are under or over sized. They have no say so on rules of the tourney. Its up to the board members of the tourney to call the shots. It was a great turn out. Congrats to all winners. Maybe next year we will make the cut. Great tourney. Cheers to all and to the great fish that make it possible.
