My buddy turned me on to this.... Choose your desired length of closet rod I think it is 1-1/4 " dia. and attach one PVC T to each end with liquid nails and some stainless screws to keep it tight till the liquid nails sets then cut half of the T off on 1 side kinda like this...

Mine is around 10ft I use it with a WS Ride....

I think I have 20 or 25 bucks in it... Sure beats 100.00 plus...
