I sent Rooster a text today asking him to pray for me cuz I was feeling like a criminal.   Sad
why?  I felt like a criminal because i "hustled" a lot of fish via TTF lures called Hackberry Hustlers!   Grin

My birthday is this coming Monday and since i was going to be unable to hit the water that day, i choose to take Friday for a pleasure fishing day as happy birthday present to myself.  I called my Pastor and another friend to join me.  They jumped at the opportunity.

The wind over night had dropped to nice 10-12 mph which made my heart skip a few beats at the thought of the bay returning to normal visibility.  After launching and making my way to the mouth, the wind was just the right speed for a good drifting speed. I made my way to my first venue and never looked back nor anywhere else.   Right from the get go we started landing reds and trout at a very pleasant rate.  by 10:00am, we had 15 trout and 9 reds chilling out in the icebox marinating themselves in ice and preparing themselves to be filleted. We continued catching trout and reds for a bit longer and release some very nice sized fish.
At around 11:00, the guys were starting to get bored of catching and releasing fish (can you believe that!!  Undecided) so i asked them if they wouldn't mind going east for a while and hitting the sand.   Since it's my birthday trip, they didn't mind going.    After about 5 minutes into our drift on the sand, we began to see hungry reds around us.  After catching and releasing about 10 reds, we took it in right before noon to clean our catch.

It turned out to be an insane day of catching fish.  the only thing that would have made it better was if i could have been able to catch those fish on my flyrod.  well i guess that means i will just have to charter myself later when the wind calms down to do that.

choice baits today was TTF's Hackberry Hustler- Who dat and morning glory; TTF's red killer, and TTF's swimming minnows.   Every TTF lure i threw at the fish were hit hard by the fish. If you haven't tried their lures, you don't know what you are missing.

yeah can you believe it.  i could have continued for another couple of hours even if no more fish were caught, but they were hungry and wanted some Chilly Willy.
