I usually get invited by my neighbor/shallowsport owner every year, but last year they had an issue regarding cheating and failed to do anything about it.  We have been talking and are debating boycotting this year.

What I heard was the RedFish that won was brought from Aransas Pass and it was a 26" that weighed bout 10lbs. Mine was a 28" at 8 lbs I guess mine was in a diet.

Wow rumors sure do fly.  That Port Aransas one is interesting.  We did everything in our power to handle the "alleged" incicident last year, and trust me, with the amount of work I put into this event it makes me sick to my stomach that anyone would want to ruin what is supposed to be a fun weekend of fishing with friends, but I digress.  Due to pending litigation I cannot expand further.

We have made several changes this year in order to stick with the purpose of the event: to have fun, catch some fish, have a few drinks, enjoy our beautiful island and meet some cool people.  First and foremost, THE TOP FIVE TEAMS WILL BE POLYGRAPHED---MANDATORY.  It sucks that the world has come to this, but hopefully that will keep the riff-raff away.  Unfortunately when a tournament gets as big as ours did, steps need to be taken.

Anyhow, we are going to have an awesome band, a huge party Friday night, amazing artwork on the trophies, over $10,000 in give-aways, great food and lots of trophies.  I will post a link to print up entry forms shortly.

That sounds great with the polygraph for top 5 teams. That'll keep the rats away! Good job.

For that past two years, something has come up that doesn't allow me to attend.  Hopefully I can work something out and be able to make it this year.

Fish ON!

Not saying how to run a tourny just posting my opinion..... When it comes to money though a tournament should not be bigger than the host can handle and strict rules should apply. I like the idea of weighing Live Fish....but this is still an ok tournament if you want to have fun. I enjoyed myself last year placed top ten I just couldnt believe my damn 28'' red was on a diet.

I  for one love competition, but I just can't compete with some of the entrants.  I know of several friends and people that start pre-fishing tourneys 2 days prior to the start.  big advantage, cause they can really find the fish and hone in on their location, tacktic and prefered food of choice.  They know when the bite is hot and when to head deeper.  Can't say that I wouldn't do the same(cause I would)  just the extra time on the water would be fun with friends.
Prices are getting raised in tournement entry fees  all over in order to keep out the so called "rats" and "riff-raff" cheaters.  You have to remember "rats and Riff Raff" come at all financial levels of life.  Not everyone is ethical, and too many high class people always wanna be on top. They were raised to win no matter the cost.

Not bashing, but take for instance the CCA banquets, I use to attend all the time, but now the door entry price is $175 per person, but does include your CCA and S.T.A.R. entries.  When I asked a member that works on the banquet commitee he said they keep raising the prices to minimize on the riff-raff attendees.  Isn't the purpose of any organization to grow.
The bottom line is that Tourney Holders need to set strict guidelines and polygraph people when necessary.
Also to prosecute when necessary, like the gentleman that put weights in the bass in order to win.  Sorry for my rant, but just my 2cents. Tight lines to all and get out there as often as you can and remember to take the family with you.

What hound dog said x2. And on the banquet, its pretty much a high rollers get together. I attended but was unlucky on the raffles (poor fishermans dream).

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone there next weekend.  We've always just wanted it to be a tournament where everyone comes to fish and have fun.  Not so serious.  That's why its unofficially called "a drinking tournament with a fishing problem"  (disclaimer, please drink responsibly).

Hound Dog, I've kept the entry fee the same for 9 years in a row now, and what the angler gets for their $75 is a $13 Hanes beefy pocket T shirt, food and beer both Friday and Saturday night, live entertainment brought in from Houston, a $20 insulated cooler filled with goodies, 40 framed original paintings as trophies, entry to win over $25,000 worth of door prizes, and a helluva good time Smiley  I would never raise the prices to keep the riff raff away.  The riff raff are the ones that would still pay the higher prices, its the families and friends that an increase would eliminate.  I am, however, doing mandatory Polygraphs in an effort to level the playing field.

Good luck to all Smiley
