So it looks like deep pockets have a far greater reach than anticipated. The CORPS is yet again requiring we answer another round of questions from USFWS and several other agencies. After concerns about prop wash in Mesquite bay were raised we agreed to go through the gulf, which would increase the costs considerably... It appears they now have concerns about us going through the gulf, something about the boat might have a negative impact?

In the few documents I've read, it again boils down to the private land owner. The agencies are concerned that we'll interrupt their ranching operation. I'm glad to know that our state and federal agencies care so much about the private land owners ranch, it's unfortunate that it's costing all of us an ecosystem, an economy, thousands of acres of VITAL wetlands, the lives of a multitude of species, and a strong case could be made for human lives.

I've seen documents that have made my jaw hit the floor and I'm amazed there hasn't been criminal charges brought against those responsible for this environmental disaster.

I'm going to contact representatives and call for a congressional hearing, those responsible should have to explain why they filled wetlands where endangered species winter, why is Matagorda Island, OUR Island, the grazing ground for a private land owner, and the multitude of other laws that have been broken.

From the sign on the island, it was important...

It had a purpose..

And it still does, a private land owners cattle need room to roam!!

It is clear to me that unless there is legal action taken, there will not be any reopeneing of the passes. The tentacles of the deep pocketed perpetrators have a stronghold on the agencies. I am no expert in legal matters, but it seems to me that if there has indeed been criminal acts committed, then Aransas County would be obligated to pursue charges against the guilty parties. It needs to be started at the local level because the federal government is not going to view this as a high priority matter. I know there are those who believe that if this gets into the court system, resolution of the matter may take years. But if it does not get a legal ruling with all the necessary powers of enforcement, this battle will be lost forever. I wish I was a wealthy, skilled attorney. Or even better, Judge, Jury, and Executioner! So much for my rant. I know this is even more frustrating for those who have been on the front line of this battle all these many years and I thank all of you who have given your time, money and efforts.

From the little I know about the topic from this and other forums, it sounds like what is needed is a firm push for the project from within the CORPS.... perhaps some Texas A&M alumni can write and explain things to Major General Merdith W. B. (Bo) Temple, who is the Deputy Commanding General within the Army Corps of Engineers.

Just my 2 cents.
